By the end of 2005, the world had 26 aluminum foil rolling mills with a roll surface width equal to or greater than 2000mm, and China accounted for half. Ten of them are in East China, and their double zero foil production capacity can reach 65kt/a, accounting for about 40% of China's double zero foil production capacity (166kt/a in 2006).
Other countries in Asia do not have aluminum foil rolling mills with a roll surface width equal to or greater than 2000mm. All such super-large top aluminum foil rolling mills are all covered by China. This creates a solid prerequisite for China to export a large number of ultra-wide double zero packaging aluminum boxes in the future.
In the 1950s, some 3-high aluminum box rolling mills were in operation in several factories in Europe, but the good times did not last long. After only more than 3 years, they withdrew from the stage of history and were replaced by four-high rolling mills. The four-high rolling mill has made great strides in the design and manufacture of aluminum foil rolling mills. The work roll diameter of this new four-roller lathe is 250mm, the supporting roll diameter is 700mm, and the roll surface width reaches 1000mm. The friction-driven coiler has also been eliminated and replaced by a DC-driven one with a maximum rolling speed of 500m/min. In the 1970s, this speed increased to 1500m/min, and the aluminum foil rolling mill has since entered the modern hall.
At present, the maximum rolling speed of the aluminum foil rolling mill has reached 2500m/min, the maximum speed of the coiler is 2700m/min; the maximum width of the aluminum box is 2150mm, and the weight of the foil coil has reached 6kg/mm foil width. These indicators are currently the highest values that can be achieved. At least before 2015, aluminum foil rolling mills cannot fully exceed these indicators. In other words, in the next 10 years, there will not be an aluminum box rolling mill with a maximum rolling speed of 2800m/min, a roll surface width of more than 2400mm, and a foil quality exceeding 14t. Because to achieve or break through these indicators in an all-round way, it is necessary to make some great progress in materials, design, and manufacturing. Therefore, it is not appropriate to say that the speed of the aluminum box rolling mill will become faster and faster, the width of the aluminum foil will become wider and wider, the quality of the box coil will become heavier, and the thickness of the box material will become thinner and thinner. At present, it can produce aluminum foil with a thickness of 0.00635mm and a width of 2000mm
